The Future of Food Working Group (FoF WG) is a CREO Strategic Initiative launched in early 2023 that focuses on addressing specific friction points and key challenges hindering the transformation of global food systems.

This initiative supports CREO’s overarching goal of catalyzing $500 million in new investments towards regenerative food systems.

Focus Areas:

The FoF WG is dedicated to fostering collaboration and innovation, with a focus on:

  • Financing Regenerative Transitions: Promoting financing models tailored for farmers transitioning from conventional to regenerative practices
  • Supply Chain Development: Building critical infrastructure to bridge the “missing middle” in regenerative supply chains
  • Building Markets & Offtake: Engaging with corporate Scope 3 targets and procurement platforms to foster demand for regenerative products
  • Decoupling productivity from ecological footprint: Promoting resilient production to meet future nutritional needs while reducing the GHG & biodiversity footprint of global agriculture

Participation Criteria:

  • CREO membership
  • Ongoing due diligence on at least one regenerative food systems investment, with plans to deploy capital by H1 2025
  • A target of deploying $5 million into regenerative food systems by the end of H1 2026

Engagement and Programming:

The FoF Working Group will convene through quarterly plenary calls, virtual learning sessions, and ad-hoc side meetings to discuss the advancement of FoF goals. 2025 will explore the use of bioregional approaches as a way to define and structure areas for members to pool collective efforts, in addition to co-investment on specific deals. Members can expect:

  • Peer-to-Peer Sharing: Exchanging deal insights and best practices among members
  • Innovative Capital Deployment: Discussing novel and emerging investment structures to support Future of Food goals
  • Learning Webinars: External speakers sharing insights via quarterly virtual webinars

By addressing friction points and driving collective action, the Future of Food Working Group empowers members to unlock investment opportunities that accelerate the shift towards sustainable and regenerative food systems.
