According to data from Cerulli Associates, a new generation of private wealth owners is emerging, with an estimated $84 trillion expected to change hands over the next 20 years. This transition is sometimes called the “Great Wealth Transfer.” Bank of America recently published data saying that younger generations are increasingly investing in climate and sustainability. This investment preference can create a generational divide, with millennial and Gen Z individuals more likely than older generations to prioritize environmental and social goals. CREO seeks to support younger generations as they gain control over family wealth and develop climate investment strategies.

CREO’s Rising Leader Collective is a community of younger members (25-40 years old) who are leading, developing, or exploring their family climate investment and philanthropy strategies.

CREO’s Rising Leader Collective allows younger members to exchange insights, best practices, and investment opportunities.

Key Topics:

  • Peer Engagement and Knowledge Exchange: Meet peers who can be long-term co-investors; discuss climate investing and philanthropic strategies
  • Curated Education:  Learn from experts about topics in climate investment and philanthropic that are specifically of interest to the Rising Leader group
  • Initiative Development: Explore, workshop, and adopt efforts to work together with other participants (e.g., hosting events, creating new investment vehicles)

Participation Criteria:

  • CREO membership
  • No prior climate or investment experience required
  • 20-40 years old
  • Willingness to share expertise and collaborate with other members
  • Pledge to attend four meetings a year – twice in-person at CREO’s global meetings and twice virtually – and report on collaborations with other Rising Leaders

Engagement and Programming:

The content of Rising Leader meetings is curated to the interests of members, as their priorities and strategies may differ from those of the broader CREO community. For example, a highly-ranked topic in a 2023 survey of the Rising Leader members was public equity shareholder engagement. To explore this topic, CREO hosted a session at its May 2024 Lisbon global meeting on the role of shareholder engagement in driving decarbonization and financial returns.

Our team welcomes outreach from members looking to learn more about our Working Groups. To learn more about Rising Leaders please contact Kobi Weinberg at kweinberg@creosyndicate.org
