The CREO Decarbonizing Shipping Working Group is a collaborative platform tackling the urgent challenge of reducing emissions in the maritime industry. As a sector responsible for nearly 3% of global emissions while moving approximately 90% of global trade, shipping holds a vital position in both the global economy and the transition to a low-carbon future.

By fostering collaboration and driving innovation, the CREO Decarbonizing Shipping Working Group is charting a sustainable course for maritime transport—aligning economic growth with environmental stewardship.

Key Focus Areas:

Regulatory Landscape: Navigating and preparing for upcoming environmental regulations
Technical and Operational Efficiency: Advancing cutting-edge technologies to optimize fuel use
Alternative Fuels: Scaling the adoption of zero-emission fuels and propulsion systems

Participation Criteria:

CREO membership
Active involvement in maritime operations as a shipowner, port owner, other
Commitment to sustainable shipping practices and decarbonization goals
Openness to share expertise, data and collaborate on industry-wide solutions

Engagement and Programming:

This working group unites CREO members who are leaders in maritime space—primarily shipowners—creating a space to exchange insights, share best practices, and develop innovative strategies to accelerate the decarbonization of shipping.

Led by Kobi Weinberg, Sr. Manager, Strategic Initiatives, working group members convene in person and through virtual sessions.
