This virtual session discussed CREO’s first-of-a-kind (FOAK) climate project work. As innovative climate technology moves out of the lab and into the field, large scale deployments of these solutions present both significant risks and attractive investment opportunities. CREO has developed expertise in the development and financing of FOAK climate projects through ongoing research and engagement with climate project financers. Over the past year, CREO’s FOAK-related activities have included:

Publication of five research papers on FOAK climate projects, including three guides that familiarize readers with project development and finance and two papers with analysis of climate technology commercialization
Updating the intake form to capture project-specific investment opportunities to share with members and to feed into CREO’s data platform
Establishment of a working group of members committed to investing in or lending to ProjectCos and to sharing dealflow and insights
Adopting and expanding Developer U, a two-day workshop originally conceived by CREO member Spring Lane Capital to educate climate hardware executives and investors about project development and project finance

In this virtual session, Kobi discussed key themes in CREO’s FOAK research, including details that did not make it onto the page. He discussed the investment opportunities and challenges that these projects present for CREO members.
