Climate Week NYC 2023 returns this fall!
With growing CREO member interest in this robust week for the climate community, CREO is pleased to introduce for the first time a curated set of CREO-relevant events from among the 400+ taking place this September. Please see below for all details, including registration instructions. This webpage will be updated on a running basis in the lead-up to Climate Week. MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 18
5:30 — 7:30 PM | From Communication to Partnerships: Catalyzing Investments to scale Natural Climate Solutions
Location: Grand Central Lounge, Convene 101 Park Avenue | Summary: Natural climate solutions (NCS) are critical to avoiding the worst effects of climate change and offer a third of the global mitigation solution needed to keep temperature rise well below two degrees Celsius. At this participatory showcase, we will feature solutions and highlight examples of scalable science, partnerships, finance, and policies that elevate marginalized voices and secure land tenure and financing for Indigenous Peoples and local communities. The solution teams will then divide across the room where the audience is strongly encouraged to mingle with the experts to deep dive into topics of most interest. Register for this event here.
TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 19
8:00 — 10:30 AM | CIBC FOAK Meeting
Location: TBA | Summary: CIBC is convening a group of climate financers to discuss, ideate, and action solutions on first-of-a-kind climate technology projects. This will be the second gathering for the group, and the goal is to advance priors ideas on catalyzing the FOAK financing market and “build the field.” The event is invite-only. 8:00 — 10:30 PM | Carbon Smart Summit
Location: Kimpton Hotel Eventi, 851 6th Ave, New York, NY 10001 | Summary: Carbon Smart Summit is a day-long event bringing leading policymakers and practitioners together to unlock the transformational potential of the voluntary carbon markets. The summit will feature real-world insights, thought-provoking discussions and networking opportunities all designed to share intelligence, drive change and scale growth. CREO’s Sector Manager, Food, Agriculture, and Natural Capital, Gabriela Leslie, will be speaking at this event on the panel called "How Institutional Investors View the VCM & How to Scale Finance" and will take place between 2:30 - 4:30PM. 9:00 — 11:30 AM | GARI Fall Convening
Location: Given at Registration | Summary: GARI (Global Adaptation and Resilience Investment) Working Group is a private sector, private investor-led initiative that was announced at Paris COP21 in conjunction with the UN Secretary General’s Climate Resilience Initiative. The GARI Working Group will be hosting a convening held in New York City (in-person or virtually) during Climate Week New York. The convening will feature a panel discussion on adaptation and resilience investment, followed by an announcement and consultation on a new GARI initiative. Register here.

Location: Ziegfeld Ballroom, 141 W 54th Street, New York, NY | Summary: At the 8th edition of the Sustainable Investment Forum North, connect with, learn from and share insights with a community of Investment Managers, Insurers, Banks, Pension Funds, Multi-Laterals, Policymakers, Think Tanks. Note the primary focus of this event is on Sustainable Investment writ large, not just Climate Investment. Register here. 11:15 AM — 12:45 PM | Net-zero throughout the world: decarbonizing the agricultural supply chain
Location: Madison Hub, Convene 101 Park Avenue | Summary: Mitigating the roughly one-third of global GHG emissions attributable to the food system requires action across the entire agri-food value chain, so that producers – and the industries and communities that they feed – can adopt regenerative practices at scale. Join The Nature Conservancy and its Canadian affiliate Nature United for an engaging discussion on the efforts to catalyze change toward net zero across whole industries and regions, including case studies from China, Canada and the Latin American region. Registration for this event is full, but on the event day, they will be opening the doors for non-registered attendees based on missed pre-bookings. Location: Given at Registration | Summary: 1000 Ocean Startups, a coalition to accelerate ocean impact innovation, will hosts its annual meeting, The Ocean Nexus, during NYC Climate Week and the UN General Assembly.
